The Society’s WW2 text was written seven years ago and is continually undergoing additional research to bring it up to date. We expect these articles, and photos, to be finished and posted as they are completed.
We are covering:
The troops that were billeted in the area and how they were welcomed.
The story of Evacuees who came to Rasen to avoid the risks of being in bomb strewn cities, some stayed, and some had famous names.
A look at the prisoners of war billeted here and again many went home, some stayed.
And, of course the celebrations on VE day, 8th May 1945 when Victory was declared and Market Rasen could slowly return to some form of normality.
