Leonard Hyde was born in Tuxford on 10th January 1897.
His father was a Hairdresser. William Edward and Fanny Hyde had four boys and five girls. Arthur, Cecil, Frank and Leonard were all Hairdressers.
1911 census, Leonard is at home with his family.
1916, he enlisted as a Private in 13th Middlesex Regiment from Union Street, Market Rasen.
Arthur-RASC Mechanical, Cecil-RN, Frank-Army.
1919, Leonard was discharged on 10th March.
1921, Leonard married Ethel Baker in West Rasen. Daughter of a Farmer from Middle Rasen.
1922-26, the family and business were at 5 Union Street. Three daughters were born, Muriel, Dorothy and Katherine.

1930, Kelly’s directory listed L.Hyde at 1 Market Place, hairdresser
1939 census, Leonard and Ethel and family at 1 Market Place, hairdresser and pig farmer.

Frank and family in Hackney, hairdresser; Arthur and wife in Bournemouth, retired hairdresser
L. Hyde was the booking office for The cinema and local productions.
Leonard ran the hairdresser salon at the back of the shop and Ethel ran the newsagent, sweets, grocery and tobacconist shop.
1971, February, the shop closed, due to poor health, their daughters were not interested in the business. Leonard still cut clients’ hair occasionally.
1973, on 24th July Leonard died and Ethel died four years later, aged 78.
