JAMES HUNT 1806-1844

1806, James Hunt, mother is Mary a widow. Born in East Torrington.

1828, £25 apprenticeship/ indenture for 7 years. He was age 12 years. His masters were Edmund and George Ward- Builders, joiners and cabinet makers.

1829, George Ward listed in Queen Street.

1833, James marries Winifred Hunt in Market Rasen.

1841 census- James is a Joiner, with Winifred and 2 Mary Ann and Richard in Lincoln.

1844, James died and in 1847 Winifred remarried.

EDMUND WARD born in 1797 in East Torrington.

1828, in business with his father George.

1833, his father George died. He was a joiner, cabinet and builder in George Street.

1834, Edmund listed in Queen Street.

1841 census, Edmund Ward, 45, mother Margaret, George (2) Hunt and Elizabeth (5) Hunt in Market Rasen.

                William Ward and his wife Ann and 2 girls are living in King Street. He is a Joiner. He married   Ann Leighton in 1837. Ann died in 1847.

                Elizabeth and her husband Joseph and boys living in Ward’s Row. He is a Joiner.

                George ?

1845, his mother Margaret died.

1846, Edmund marries Harriet Mary Hunt, his father George Ward and her father James Hunt.

1851 census, Edmund and Harriet living in George Street. James (16) apprentice and George (13) apprentice (nephew) and servant.

                William, his 3 daughters and son John are living in Dear Street. William is a Joiner.

1856, Harriet died.

1861 census, Edmund, Master builder and Joiner, employing 8 men and 3 apprentices including his nephew John Ward as a Joiner. Living in George Street also with 2 nieces.

Kelly’s directory lists the business in Queen Street.

1876, Edmund died.

Father George Ward 1767-1833, and mother Margaret 1768-1845.  and sister Elizabeth 1807-1841

Joseph Hunt and Elizabeth Ward married in 1833 and had John in 1836 and Joseph in 1839.

1841 census, Joseph and Elizabeth and boys living in Ward’s Row. He is a Joiner. Elizabeth died in the Autumn of 1841.

GEORGE WARD 1767-1833

George was born in 1767 and he married Margaret Sallett (Roman Catholic) in Market Rasen. They had 4 children

Edmund 1797, George 1803, Elizabeth 1807 and William 1813.

1822, George is listed in trade directory as a Cabinet maker and builder.

1818, George is listed in the town’s Poll book as a Joiner and Cabinet maker.

1828, James Hunt is offered a £25 apprenticeship/ indenture for 7 years. He was age 12 years. His  masters were George and his son Edmund Ward- Builders, joiners and cabinet makers.

1829, George Ward listed in Queen Street.

1833, George died and his widow Margaret went to live with Edmund.

Elizabeth HUNT 1841, Margaret WARD 1845 and George WARD 1833, are all buried together in the graveyard of St Thomas.

1851 census, there a 5 Builders, 12 Joiners, 11 Carpenters and 3 Cabinet makers.

George WARD born in Market Rasen in 1803, baptised in the Roman Catholic Chapel. No other records.
